I've finally got a real VOR army so Gav can stop growling at me.

I'd love to!
Just not this Tuesday, as I'm supposed to be playing Heavy Gear, and aren't you supposed to be playing Trinity? "Two wrongs don't make a right." Well, it just so happens that two wrongs do make a right. Not only that, but as the number of wrongs increases, the whole thing goes up exponentially. So that while two wrongs make one right, and four wrongs make two rights, it actually takes sixteen wrongs to make three rights and 256 wrongs to make four rights. It seems to me that anyone who is stringing together more than 256 wrongs needs counseling, not mathematics. |

The game is on the backburner Doomspeaker. I'll let you know when I'm ready, and we can arrange it then. I'll play you at VOR just asap. I'm too busy with Claymore and Space Hulk right now. Oh, and Andy B. thinks that you're playing in his Trinity campaign next club night.

Yes Freddy I am afraid that this week is the first week of my Trinity game (More evidence that nobody bothers reading the forum that I got Gav to set up).

A game then, Doomspeaker?
|
How about: first club night after Claymore (7th); 500pts; a proper scenario with attacker and defender; and play it twice, swapping sides (not armies) for the 2nd game (and that's your 1000pts). If you can't be bothered, a straight 1000pt game is fine too.
Well then old bean? |

Cool your tool Doomspeaker!
|
I was just suggesting a small game for the sake of playing it twice in one night. A single 1000pt game on 7/8/01 it is then. I'll get GavBot to select the mission, plus any other parameters (including special terrain effects). I'll be playing the Avengers.
Looking forward to the game. Ciao, John PS. I'll be posting some of Joseph Conrad's stuff to your other thread asap, just to get something going. |

Ignominious defeat! | ||
|
What a rout, more painful even than that massive tanking at 40K! My Belonian IG from my Lost Legion just legged it off the board on their first activation! (Highly apt for a bunch of mercenaries with their own agenda!) Mopping-up began in turn 2. Drokk, but those Shard specials are dangerous!
Result: 5 campaign pts and +1 resource for Doomspeaker's Shard; 1 pt and -1 resource for the Avengers. (I almost considered retiring the army and starting again, but I'm made of sterner stuff! And anyway, we've got a bit more to avenge now!) Meanwhile, it's back to the workshops again for poor old Panzer Bob. What does Angstromm have to say about this I wonder? |

A lone strider was the Shard casualty.
As was predicted the carbons died easily. Zaxxis and his Concussors caused mass devastation and the Axion de-evolved the carbons into the pudles of organic soup from whence they came. The Crawlers used their Scrye Spotters to the best advantage. A Power Drain took out the CROK. We shard like fighting carbons. It was fun against the Union too, more carbons.... Back to the drawing board then
|
I'm going to have to get myself a Shard forcebook and figure out some weaknesses to build an army around! I mean, if the designer's aren't complete idiots, there must be some, mustn't there? Good game. Painful, but memorable!

Re: Back to the drawing board then

The shard are quite easy to defeat if you take out the key players.
I worked out how a Union army would tear me apart so to counteract it the same would work for your avengers...i just aint telling you how. If I were you i'd dump the vehicle in favour of a unit of powered armour troops of some description 'Demand the ImpossibleDream your DestinyDefy the logic of Alphabet.Nothing is Impossible'
